Nongin Bird

      Nongin Bird  Nongin (Syrmaticus humiae), a beautiful bird that was declared as State Bird of Manipur in 1989. The bird is also named as Mrs. Hume's Pheasant in honour of Mrs A.O. Hume,the wife of Mr. Allan Octavian Hume. Mr. Hume was a greatest influential ornithologist in nineteen century, and he had scientifically recorded the bird during his expedition in Manipur in 1881. In Manipuri the meaning of Nongin is one who follows the track of rain. 'Nong' means rain and 'In' means to follow. The name of birth has legend  that a loving couple died due to thirst and hunger and their souls were changed into the pair of the bird. It was also believed that the bird knew the conditions and cycle of rain and cloud in the sky. Royal kings of Manipur used to present the beautiful feathers of the bird as awards for war or hunting heroes. The bird is a big forest bird and its size is of the local chicken.          The Dodo Dodo bird in an extinct flightless bird weighing about 22 to 40 pounds .The diet of this bird consists of druids,seeds and nuts. This bird commonly lived in the island of Mauritius 🦤. It's hooked beaks was used as a tool while harvesting foods. The closest living relatives of the Dodo are the penguin, pigeon and doves.Dodo bird was first sighted by Dutch settlers  1598.This bird had no natural predators allowing them to thrive around the Mauritius island. So why and how did they go extinct?? The Dodo bird was illegally hunt by the Dutch sailers visiting the island and it was completely extinct in 1638 not even a decade after it was discovered.They could not fly and were slow and defend less against there predators.And progressive weight gain making them easily noticeable.

           The Pena Introducing the Pena : The Pena is a traditional bowing string musical instrument from Northeast state of Manipur .The Pena consists of two major parts namely Maru or Tha (body)and the cheijing (bow).The cheijing is made from wood ,metal bells, horsetail .The Pena has been used for centuries in classical musics and folk songs.The Pena is instructed not to touch without proper dress and without taking a bath as a symbol of respect for the instrument.The Pena is played while recieved gift from the royal family or the king himself. It is an instrument that has been used by the people particularly the meitei ,maring and some other tribes dating back to the 33 AD . Manipur is a princely state in the northeast region of India .It is also called as      kangleipak . It has conquered southern part of china , Myanmar .It was an independent kingdom and had never been under  colonization of any country or kingdom until 1891 when the meitei army were defeated by the British at Khongjom (Khongjom war) .It is the land of jewel and a sports house of the country.It is famous for its diverse culture and unique flora and fauna . Manipur is surrounded by mountains as it is in the Himalayan range.Manipur is borders by Nagaland, Assam, Mizoram to the East,North, west respectively.It is also bordered with Myanmar (Burma) to the southeast. The State Emblem of Kangleipak is represented by the above picture.       It is a native place to different tribes ,the. meitei,chiru,anal,aimol,kom,maring,kabui, tangkhul,rongmei,liangmei,any many other indigenous tribes .They had settled here for thousand of years . Northeast student college life

 Firstly let me start by introducing myself.My name is Jashwal Ningombam @Lingjelkhaba Angom .I am a student from Manipur from Northeast India and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy In Career Point University. Today I am writing a blog on my college life and I'll be sharing how my life as a Northeast person in Rajasthan  Life is great here , professors guide us in every possible way to enhance our goal and build a career,the seniors are also very dependable. But what if I was asked about any drawbacks of staying here ..yes there is some issues that I face as a Northeast student.Guess what it is. Ofcourse it is the food and temperature that is making me hard to adjust in this place .In the Northeast we eat foods that is cooked with less oil and spices or no oil at all ..we prefer it boiled curry cooked with fermented fish in addition to that we eat white rice every day and night.So for me it is very hard to adjust for me for the first one two months .I
